2020 Adventure Day Experiences 

Although our typical summer camp program was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are offering one day programs that include: Whitewater Rafting, Mountain Biking, ATV, Shooting Sports, and Canoe Treks.

Whitewater Rafting 
Commonly known as the Grand Canyon on the East, the New River winds through West Virginia and creates amazing views. The steep gorge cliffs also create some of the best whitewater on the East Coast. Groups will meet at the New River Gorge Visitor's Center at 9:00AM. 

Cost: $75 per person
Scouts must be 12 years old 
Participants provide their own transportation to the "put in" and " take out" locations
Ensure that your Scouts have passed the Swim Test Requirements
Ensure that your Scouts and Leaders comply to the Guidelines to Safe Scouting.

Whitewater Registration Form 

Mountain Biking
Expand your knowledge for mountain bikes, technique and bike maintenance and explore the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation on two wheels with a group ride. The day will complete all the classroom requirements for the cycling merit badge and one ride requirement.

Cost: $30 per person
Participants provide their own Mountain Bike , Helmet and any extra padding or protective equipment
Prepackaged lunch will be provided.
Meet at the Powhatan warehouse at 9:00 on day of event.

Mountain Biking Registration Form

1-Day 4 Wheeling Program 
If you are interested is seeing the back country of the Reservation then this is the trek for you. The day will begin with a hands on training through the ATV safety institute. After completion of the course you will have a prepacked lunch and then take off on a guided tour through the 17,000 acres of the Reservation. You will ride 10-12 miles. Upon completion of the course you will receive an ATV Safety Institute Certificate.

Cost: $75 per person
Scouts must be 14 years old.
Meet at the staff parking area at Camp Powhatan on day of event.
Trek can take 8 riders
We can accommodate 4 rides 14 -16 in age and 4 over 16 yrs. in age.
Proper riding clothing must be worn while riding, long pants , long sleeve shirt, gloves and boots.
Dates of trek are July 22nd , 29th ( Wednesdays)

1-Day 4 Wheeling registration form

2-Day 4 Wheeling Program 
If one days not enough for you then here is an opportunity to really throttle it up a notch. You will get the ATV Safety Institute certification and get to ride up to 20 miles on the reservation and camp out overnight in the back country.

Phase three guidelines must be in effect to allow overnight camping.

Cost: $150 per person
Program will be finished by 3 PM on the second day.
Participants are responsible for bringing their own mess kits for dinner and camping equipment.
Participants will receive four prepackaged meals ( Two bagged lunches, a cold breakfast, and a hot trail meal for dinner.)
Proper riding clothing must be worn while riding: long pants , long sleeve shirt, gloves and boots.
Ensure that your Scouts and Leaders comply to the Guidelines to Safe Scouting.

2-Day 4-Wheeling Program Registration Form  

Shooting Sports Program
This program offers a fun and safe introduction to safe handling of a rifle, shotgun and black powder rifles hosted at Camp Powhatan Shooting Ranges. Instruction provided by trained adult volunteers who have the skills and knowledge to provide quality programs in a safe and effective way. Classes will be hosted on Saturdays. Classes will begin at 9:00AM and end at 3:00PM.

Cost: $25.00 per person

Shooting Sports Registration Form 

Canoe Treks
Come experience a piece of history on the second oldest river in the world! Choose between two treks. The first is a great beginner program at 11 miles long with mostly flat water with a Class 1 rapid on the last mile. Put in for this trek will be at the Sportsman store, under the I-81 New River Bridge. Take out will be at the Route 114 bridge. 

The second trek will be from Ripplemeade to Bluff City at a total of 8.5 miles. This trek is full of Class III rapids. test your skills on this run ans plan to get wet!! Put in at the public boat launch station in Ripplemeade and take out at the public boat launch station at the Route 460 bridge. 

Cost: $45.00
Trip will start at 9:00AM and end at 3:00PM

HIGH KNOLL TREK
Take a 2 day journey within the reservation hiking to White Oak Flat for an afternoon program and a night under the stars! Next day hike over the mountain for an afternoon of muzzle loading and tomahawk throwing. After an afternoon of activities, depart the reservation from Ottari before or after supper.

Phase three guidelines must be in effect to allow overnight camping.

Cost: $75 per person
Scouts must be 12 1/2 and First Class by the start of camp week.
This is a rugged 2 day (overnight) backpacking adventure showing a taste of the Appalachian area.
Each afternoon, crews will participate in activities which may include:
Logging days (wood tools and paintball) and the Rendezous program (muzzle loading rifles and tomahawk throwing).
