Great opportunity for Scouts BSA in the Great Valley District. Spend time at the Virginia Museum of Transportation and explore the aviation gallery, railyard and other galleries. Scouts will build and fly gliders, earn the Aviation merit badge, ride on a Commonwealth Coach and Trolley Museum historic bus to visit Star Flight Training School, and learn from aviation experts.
Aviation Day is being held at the Virginia Museum of Transportation, 303 Norfolk Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016. Scouts must check-in beginning at 8:00am, opening ceremony at 8:30am, classes start 9:00am, followed by lunch, and bus to afternoon tours. Scouts will check out at 4:30pm.
Scouts completing all badge requirements per http://www.meritbadge.org, as determined by the counselor, will have their Blue Card signed as completed.
Scouts are responsible for bringing a Blue Card signed by their Unit Leader. Counselors will not have blank blue cards at the event.
Scouts are responsible for registration and payment, for checking-in and checking-out on the day of the event, for wearing a Class A uniform at the event, for bringing a pen and notebook to the event, and for adhering to all elements of the Scout Law during the event.
Scouters and parents are welcome, but must register and pay the event fee to cover VMT admission and lunch. Adults are limited to 10 due to bus capacity.
